As our fellow innkeepers already know, the daily routine of an innkeeper combines early rising, cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, banking, bookkeeping, advertising and marketing, check-ins, reservations, management, and much more. One more common pitfall is something that sounds so basic but can really impact your experience, decor.
In most cases, particularly with inns of less than ten rooms, the innkeeper is the only person working at there. Innkeepers often plan their day, including shopping for your breakfast foods, around guests arrival times. Being away from it for a short period of time can make it much more appealing than it was before.
Making this first decision on location will cut the number of properties you consider. It can also help you to appreciate what you do have around you when you return home. Hopefully it will encourage you to stay at a bed and breakfast in the future and not just an uncomfortable hotel room with noisy neighbors.
Most innkeepers couldn't make a living just by running their BandB, but that doesn't make it a hobby. You can see for yourself why other people find certain ones so attractive as well.
